1985 RIVA 31’ ST. TROPEZ # 278

Designed by Giorgio Barilani, the Architect for Riva of many boats including the world renowned Riva Aquarama Special, the St. Tropez is one of the most successful boats of the Riva product line. Some 317 units were produced from 1976 – 1989. The St. Tropez was designed as a modern fiberglass runabout while retaining the simple and elegant philosophy of the Aquarama line. As with the Aquarama, the helm station is still reminiscent of an automotive layout.

The cockpit area includes two rows of seats. In front there are two pedestal type bucket seats to accommodate the pilot and passenger, each with folding bottoms to facilitate vessel operation while standing or sitting. In the rear is a bench seat, which can seat up to four people quite comfortably. The entire cockpit is well protected by the tall windscreen and upholstered sidewalls of the cockpit.

A swim ladder, with stainless steel handrails, is cleverly incorporated into the transom of the boat.

Aft, above the engine compartment, is a full width sun lounge with three portable sun mattresses. Stowage compartments are contained within the sun deck side walls.

A cuddy cabin, forward, is fully upholstered with a vee berth for two and an overhead deck hatch as well as several ample storage areas. Under the center of the vee berth is a concealed marine head.

A Danforth anchor is at the ready, stowed in a cradle under it’s forepeak hatch.

Standard electronics include Riva VDO instrumentation and an AM/FM cassette player.

With approximately 740 operating hours since the boat was delivered new to it’s first owner in Palm Beach Florida, this boat is in fine condition. The upholstery and cushions have been replaced recently, using correct Riva materials.

Both 454 CID Riva / Crusader motor long blocks have been correctly replaced within the last 100  hours (plus / minus) of predominantly fresh water use. Any replacements or repairs have been in keeping with Riva correct specs and have used Riva supplied components.
