1955 Ariston 68
We are proud to present Riva Ariston No. 68, SAGA, one of 26 units built in 1955. Of a total of 113 “Series 1” Aristons built between 1950 and 1957 with a single panel windshield, less than 20 remain in existence worldwide.
From 2018-2022, SAGA has undergone an intensive and comprehensive keel up restoration maintaining the highest level of attention to correct materials and construction. Painstaking effort has been put into every detail, including woods used, dashboard and it’s lighting, instruments (restored by Mark Clawson), correct yellow vinyl with black & white check upholstery, bilge areas, machinery, etc.
SAGA retains the original Riva single piece glass windshield, steering wheel, Riva-Chris Craft dash emblem, and the correct siren for 1955 – the first year that a siren was available. The electrical system has been converted to 12V, although still retaining correct 6V type wiring. Discreetly installed are a bilge blower and bilge pump.
SAGA is powered by a Chris Craft MBL 158 HP engine with correct Riva details – oil filter, bell crank controls, Riva marked exhaust elbow, etc.
This is a unique opportunity to obtain a 1950’s vintage Riva Ariston that has been properly restored to it’s as delivered 1955 condition. It is however, still a most useable boat to enjoy.
